U2's The Edge spotted in Poblacion, Makati on the eve of their Manila concert
U2's The Edge was spotted in Makati's hip district of Poblacion on the eve of their Manila concert.
Director Quark Henares posted a photo with U2's guitarist on social media at Agimat Foraging Bar, sharing his encounter with the rock legend.
According to Quark, he was exchanging pleasantries with The Edge, when "someone lovely enough told him 'this guy’s a great director.' He said, 'really? Give me your card'.”
And it wasn't until Quark was posting about it on social media did it sink in that, wow. The Edge of U2 had his business card.
On social media, Agimat revealed The Edge's visit was actually pre-arranged one week in advance.
"It was an honour for us to showcase Filipino produce and cuisine to The Edge, his lovely wife, Chef Mario Batali and the rest of their group," Agimat said, adding the "highlight of the night was when they told us that they were “blown away by the food.”
Agimat, on Alonso corner Fermina Streets, is a wonderful little place that serves elaborate Filipino craft cocktails and Filipino cuisine presented in the most exotic fashion. Chef Nino Laus and mixologist Kael Demetrio are behind it.
The Irish rockers have been enjoying the best Manila has to offer since they arrived. Their first meal on Monday night was at Margarita Fores' Rockwell restaurant Grace Park, where Asia's Best Female Chef of 2016 fed them lechon and adobo, among others.
On Tuesday, Bono was spotted in BGC's lovely Spanish restaurant Donosti.
