Japan's MOS Burger to open first branch in Manila on Thursday

The long wait is over because Japan's MOS Burger has finally reached Philippine shores!

The country's first-ever MOS Burger branch will open its doors to the public starting 10 am on Thursday, February 27, at Robinson's Galleria in Ortigas.

Ahead of its first store opening, the Japanese burger chain opened a two-day pop-up store in the same mall from January 15 to 16 where 300 pieces of the MOS Cheeseburger (P149) and Yakiniku Burger (P169) were offered to the public.

"We have brought our well-loved burgers to the Philippines. Now, you don’t have to go all the way to Japan to your fill of our best-selling burgers," MOS Burger Philippines president Araki Masahide said.

In its first stand-alone restaurant, MOS Burger will bring more of its popular Japanese burgers to the Philippine market such as the Natsumi Yakiniku (P189), Wagyu Burger (P299) and Wagyu Rice Burger (P309).

Chicken lovers are in for a treat as MOS will also serve the Teriyaki Chicken Burger (P189), Teriyaki Chicken Rice Burger (P209) and Natsumi Teriyaki Chicken (P209).

For seafood fans, there is also the Seafood Tempura Rice Burger (P169).

According to MOS Food Services Inc. chairman Atsushi Sakurada, the Galleria branch is just the first of many. They will soon open stores in SM Megamall, Robinson's Magnolia, Greenhills, Midtown and Eastwood.

During the VIP Night on Wednesday, Sakurada said they are expecting 40 to 50 stores in the years to come.

MOS Burger Philippines CEO Hubert Young said they will also come up with Philippine-exclusive items soon.

Aside from the burger joint, a MOS Café will also follow with different menu items in store.

“We want the best for our Filipino diners. We encourage them to try each burger (for now),” he said.

MOS Burger Philippines is a joint venture agreement formed in 2019 by MOS Food Services Inc. of Japan and Tokyo Coffee Holdings of Young, the entrepreneur who is also behind the UCC chain of food and coffee concepts.

MOS stands for "Mountain, Ocean and Sun. It first opened in Tokyo in 1972.

The burger chain now has 1,300 stores in Japan and 300 around the world.
