Here's how you can make sushi with luncheon meat
If you're a fan of sushi and want to make some at home, then here's an easy recipe for you!
In a "Pinas Sarap ECQusina" episode on Friday, Archie Alemania, with the help of his wife Gee Canlas, showed viewers how to make a "luncheon meat-subi."
According to Archie, all you'll be needing are luncheon meat, rice, seaweed paper, and the luncheon meat can for molding.
First, mix together soy sauce and sugar in a bowl until the condiment has a sweet and salty flavor to it.
Afterwards, place the mixture in a pan to simmer it and place the luncheon meat on top just to caramelize the meat.
When the meat is brown, slowly lift it off of the pan. Then, fry the caramelized luncheon meat. When the luncheon meat is done cooking, it will have a sticky feeling due to the sugar.
After cooking the luncheon meat, you can now finally assemble your sushi.
If you don't have a mold at home, you can just use the rectangular luncheon meat can to mold your sushi.
"Kailangan kasi ng mold itong dish. Since wala akong mold, bumili nalang ako ng luncheon meat na rectangular," Archie shared.
Surround the inside of the can with cling wrap then proceed to put rice inside. To pack the rice tightly in the mold, simply use a spoon and press it against the rice.
After adding the right amount of rice to your liking, add the luncheon meat on top of the rice and remove it from the container.
For the finishing touch, slice long strips of seaweed paper, just wrap it around the rice and meat, and voila! You'll have your own curated sushi with luncheon meat ready for any meal of the day.
"ECQusina" is an online show that Kara David hosts on Facebook, where she teaches viewers how to make tasty dishes using daily grocery items at home.
