Learn how to make kinamatisang isda, a sour soup that's not sinigang

Looking for something nutritious and warm in the belly? Try kinamatisang isda.

Love Añover just shared a quick and easy recipe for this delicious soup dish on GMA-7's "Unang Hirit."

To make Love's kinamatisang isa, you'll need following:

  • Tanigue (or any kind of fish)
  • Ripe tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Siling pang-sigang
  • Ginger
  • Tanglad (Lemon grass)
  • Dahon ng sibuyas (Leeks)
  • Bell pepper
  • Salt & pepper
  • Water

First, boil some water in advance.

Using a large pan, heat up some oil and add ginger first, followed by onions and tomatoes.

Season this with salt and pepper, and add your bell pepper and tanglad. Add the boiled water to the vegetables.

Let everything simmer. According to Love, it was important for the cook to taste the soup and make sure it tasted good before adding the fish in along with the leeks.

Let it boil until the fish cooks and soaks up all the flavors, and voila! Your kinamatisang isda is ready to serve. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
