Learn how to make good 'lumpiang hubad'

Lumpiang shanghai is the easy favorite but lumpiang hubad might the healthier alternative.

On Unang Hirit Thursday, Love Añover showed how to make lumpiang hubad. The trick to good lumpiang hubad, she says, is not to over cook the veggies and keep them crunchy!

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp
  • Tofu
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Patis
  • Singkamas
  • Carrots
  • Kamote
  • Garbanzo beans

And for the sauce:

  • Soy Sauce
  • Sugar
  • Crushed nuts
  • Cornstarch

Start by dicing your tofu, singkamas, carrots and camote into small cubes.

Fry the tofu in a big pan until it turns nice and brown. Take the tofu out, and sautee your shrimp.

Set your proteins aside, and start cooking your veggies. Put in the kamote, carrots and garbanzos first — these vegetables take a longer time to cook — followed by onions, garlic, carrots and singkamas.

Once everything is cooked, pour the shrimp water into the veggies, then season it with patis, salt and pepper.

After setting the veggies aside, clear your pan to make the sauce. Put the soy sauce first, followed by sugar, crushed nuts, peanut butter and cornstarch. Stir it all together until it's nice and thick.

Pour the sauce over your veggies, and voila! Your lumpiang hubad is ready to serve.
