Poblacion's Polilya is closing its doors

Polilya, one of the establishments in Makati City's hip Poblacion area, announced its closure on Wednesday, adding to the growing list of businesses shutting down amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The establishment made the announcement on social media, where it thanked its loyal customers throughout the years.

"Polilya is closing its doors. This was an extremely hard and sad decision for us to make. What we've created over the past three years is a labor of love," it said.

Polilya is closing it’s doors. This was an extremely hard and sad decision for us to make. What we’ve created over the past three years is a labor of love. Throughout this time you, our loyal customers, have become a part of the Polilya family. Our wonderful staff worked hard these past few weeks to make a safe space and it was wonderful to have you back, even just for a week. We want to thank our staff for all of time and love that they put into Polilya. You are the heart and soul of Polilya. Thank you loyal customers for your continuous support, especially during these hard times. It has been an incredible run and we feel so lucky to have met all of you! The near future is uncertain but we hope to see you again somewhere down the road????

The post was made after a brief resumption of operations, following a months-long suspension due to lockdown restrictions designed to curb the coronavirus pandemic.

"Our wonderful staff worked hard these past few weeks to make a safe space and it was wonderful to have you back, even just for a week," it said.

Polilya, with its vibrant neon signage on Jacobo Street, is home to Engkanto Brewery's local craft beers.

"We want to thank our staff for all of time and love that they put into Polilya. You are the heart and soul of Polilya. Thank you loyal customers for your continuous support, especially during these hard times," the farewell post read.

The announcement, however, ended in an optimistic note, with the doors open for a comeback.

"It has been an incredible run and we feel so lucky to have met all of you! The near future is uncertain but we hope to see you again somewhere down the road."

Establishments such as Cubao's Today x Future and San Juan's Moksha earlier made similar announcements.
