Sushi bake or taco bake? Here are 5 baked goodie trends to try out
From sushi bake to baked samgyup, many baked goodie trends are emerging as people start to explore more food options amid quarantine.
However, these aren’t just your ordinary baked treats. These baked goods are deconstructions of the original composition of sushi, samgyupsal, and many other dishes. The trick is to put layer upon layer of the ingredients and bake them all together.
Served in a pan or tray, these are eaten like taco: scoop up a spoonful and place it inside your tortilla or nacho chip, nori, or lettuce. To try out this unique experience, here are some baked goods you can have delivered right to your doorstep:
1. Sushi bake
Instead of having a sushi roll, you can now try its baked version!
The only difference between the roll and the baked version is the presentation and how they are eaten. With the roll, you can just pick up the bite-sized treat using a chopstick or your hand, but with the baked one, you have a tray stacked with sushi layers.
The Sushi Bake, one of the online stores where you can get this rice treat, has three locations: Caloocan, Mandaluyong and Paranaque. Delivering every day, it offers the classic and spicy versions in mini and party sizes.
Good for one to two people, their Classic Sushi Bake Mini tray costs Php 700 while their Spicy Sushi Bake Mini tray costs Php 800.
2. Taco bake
Eat tacos without the mess with taco bake!
With all its ingredients baked in a pan, you can easily scoop up the taco filling and put it in a tortilla chip—easy and mess-free!
Known for its cheesy beef taco bake, Marikina-based Good Carbs Manila offers its special tray with 12 pieces of tortilla and special garlic cilantro yogurt.
Delivering every Wednesday and Sunday within Metro Manila, Good Carbs offers their tray, which is good for two to three people, for only Php 500.
3. Baked samgyup
Since many of us can’t go out to hang at our favorite samgyupsal place, enterprising foodies have come up with the baked samgyupsal, which puts everything we love about the dish in one easy to spoon tray.
The baked samgyupsal consists of kimchi rice topped with juicy beef or pork and drizzled with cheese. All you need to do is get a spoonful (or 10) and put it inside your mouth. You can also try it with lettuce to get the full Korean dining experience.
Kim Cheese Manila lets you decide whether to have your samgyupsal with the regular yakiniku marinade or a spicy flavor. Priced at Php 400 for one to two people, these baked samgyup trays come with a lettuce package and can be delivered every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
4. Nacho bake
Instead of pouring the beef and cheese sauce over the nacho or tortilla chips, this nacho bake lets you experience nachos in a whole different way.
In a pan, beef, vegetables, salsa and cheese are baked all together. To enjoy, simply dip the chip in or scoop from the tray and place the filling on top of your chip!
Nacho Bake serves its beefy baked dish with over 5 layers of cheese. Its small size, which has one tub of salsa and one bag of chips, costs Php 550.
5. Sisig rice bake
If Japan has its sushi, the Philippines has its sisig!
If you love sisig, you might be surprised with this new presentation: your chopped meat baked with the rice. You can just scoop it up and eat it by itself, or pair it with some greens or nori.
Chep’s Kitchen, located in Las Pinas, offers their special tray of sisig rice bake with either lettuce or sesame leaves. Its small tray, which is good for two to three people, costs Php 450. – RC, GMA News
