Making safety a priority when dining-in restaurants

Making safety a priority when dining-in restaurants

With more and more stores reopening, restaurants go the extra mile to keep their employees and customers safe. Ingrained in its operating culture, McDonald’s has always prioritized quality, service, safety and cleanliness ever since it opened in 1981 until this era of new normal. Here are some safety protocols being implemented across its branches for the health and well-being of every employee and customer:

Daily Health Declaration Forms

Health declaration forms aid in providing valuable information for contact tracing. Every day, restaurant employees are required to fill out this form, it ensures that each employee can work, and customers can dine safely while inside the store.

Mandatory Foot Baths

Before you even step inside a store, safety measures are being observed. Aside from sanitizing of hands, shoes are also being cleaned by foot baths. This is to make sure that those going inside a store do not bring outside germs with them.

Frequent Temperature Checks

Body temperature checks are now mandatory in every establishment. This fast-food chain take it up a notch by performing several temperature checks of its employees throughout the day - monitoring frequently to ensure a safe working and dining experience for all.

McDonald’s Philippines have been implementing these protocols strictly.

They have also stepped up their safety game by having these initiatives as well:

Placing Safety Managers at Stores

Implementing strict protocols are essential to a safe environment for all. Adi Hernandez, McDonald’s Corporate Communication Senior Manager shares what a Safety Manager is for. “Every McDonald’s restaurant has a dedicated Safety Manager that is in charge of reminding our crew and managers to follow all health and safety protocols at all times, in all areas of the restaurant. The Safety Manager also guides our customers on our protocols in our stores.”

Advanced Contact Tracing App for Stores

Months into the pandemic, adapting and innovating are must-have skills for businesses. Being agile and responsive to change keeps businesses thriving in the new normal. To aid in our country’s contact tracing efforts, McDonald’s Philippines is also adopting the use of the StaySafe App. The app, which makes contact tracing more convenient and efficient for the public will be expected to roll out across stores nationwide and even in our head office, according to Hernandez.

Free Testing Event for Employees

McDonald’s Philippines recently held a media briefing last October 16 for an initiative under their M Safe Program. This project provides free RT-PCR testing for McDonald’s store employees based in the brand’s Metro Manila branches.

Hernandez stated that “As part of our M Safe campaign, we saw it necessary to go the extra mile for the safety of our own employees as they continue to serve as our frontliners in this pandemic.”

MMDA Officer-in-Charge (OIC)-General Manager Jojo Garcia shared a few words during the event. “We’re doing this to give people the confidence to dine in.” He mentioned that initiatives like Project Free help in jumpstarting the economy. Ensuring a safer environment for public places like McDonald’s stores can be a step closer in adjusting to the new normal dining experience.

The initiative aims to test close to 20,000 restaurant crew and managers from over 200 Metro Manila McDonald’s branches.

McDonald’s Philippines believes that by keeping their employees safe, they are able to keep their customers safe, too.

Customers are also encouraged to send their feedback and suggestions on McDonald’s M Safe Program by sending an email to: msafe@ph.mcd.com.
