Here’s how to make Kara David’s ginataang mais for your next merienda

Looking for a unique but easy dish to make for your next merienda? Well, Kara David’s ginataang mais may just be what you’re looking for!

During a live episode of “ECQusina” on Friday, Kara shared that all you’ll be needing for this meal are five ingredients: malagkit na bigas or glutinous rice, kernel corn, coconut cream, coconut milk, and sugar.

According to the reporter, you can use the kernel corn from a can or fresh corn from the cob itself.

The first step, she shared, is to boil 3 cups of coconut milk and 3 cups of water together.

Since Kara was using a corn cob, she shared that she boiled the cob separately and used the water from there to make the ginataang mais much tastier.

“’Di ko tinapon. Nilaga ko siya dito kasi ’yun ’yung gagamitin kong tubig para may lasang corn pa rin,” Kara said.

Then, add the 1 cup of rice and 1 1/2 cup the corn. However, if you’re using kernel corn from the can, it’s much better to put it in at a much later time after the rice is mixed in.

Keep mixing the rice and corn until it’s cooked. Next, add 1 1/2 cup of coconut cream and 1 cup of sugar to the mixture. After mixing it all together, you now have a tasty merienda! – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
