Make pineapple upside-down cake with these easy steps
If you're looking for an easy dessert to make at home that only needs a few simple ingredients, then you should definitely try out the pineapple upside-down cake!
During an episode of "ECQusina" on Friday, Kara David showed viewers how to make the cake using her the recipe of her teacher from the Center for Asian Culinary Studies.
Although she'll be using a different recipe, Kara shared that the pineapple upside-down cake was actually the first thing she learned how to bake growing up.
"Itong pineapple upside-cake ang pinaka-unang cake na natutunan ko i-bake," the veteran journalist said. "Way back when I was 12 years old, nag-aral ako ng baking doon sa kusina ng aking lola at ito 'yung una niyang tinuro sakin."
Below are the ingredients you'll be needing.
For the topping:
- pineapple
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
For the cake:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/4 cup cake flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- water
- vanilla extract
First, pre-heat your oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Then, pour the melted butter in the pan and add the brown sugar. Place the pineapple afterwards and let it sit.
In a separate bowl, mix the egg yolks, sugar, water and vanilla extract together until it's a lighter color. Then, add the dry ingredients: cake flour, baking powder and salt.
In another bowl, mix the egg whites until it becomes foamy. Once that's done, fold in the batter. Make sure you don't mix but rather softly fold the egg whites and the batter together.
Put the batter in the oven for 25 to 35 minutes and once it's all baked and cooled, place a plate on top of the pan and turn it upside down!
Viola! You now have your own pineapple upside-down cake. —Kaela Malig/JCB, GMA News
