That humble empanada can hold international flavors in it. Here's how

Who doesn't love empanada, that nifty merienda item that's filling and so easy to eat! Chicken, pork, and beef are the most common filling but in a report on Unang Hirit on Tuesday, Love Añover and Chef Robert Pigtain showed how to make an Indian-style empanada.

It still is chicken, yes, but Chef Robert turned the popular Indian dish chicken tikka masala into an empanada filling and the results look incredible.

The first step is to make the dough: Mix the melted butter, sugar, egg yolk, and water before mixing the flour.

Then prepare the filling. Chef Robert first sauteed cumin seeds, onions, ginger, garlic, ground chicken, tomato, and bay leaf.

Mix the herbs and spices including chili powder, cumin seed, cumin powder, masala powder, and turmeric powder.

Put a bit of patis and water and wait for it to simmer before putting in the tomato paste, potatoes, and carrots.

You now place the filling inside a flat dough, add cheese then fold the dough.

You can also try other flavors such as Korean, Mexican, or even Filipino. Chef Robert is selling them on his Facebook page. You can also contact him through +639228061883.
