Here are some canned food recipes to level up your budget meals

With the New Year came yet another increase in market prices.

Luckily, canned goods remain affordable for most, so here are some budget recipes that Chef Chona Laureta shared on "Good News" to help you level up your next meals.

1. Tuna Patties

For this meal, you will need canned tuna, oil, pepper, onions, bread crumbs, cheese, calamansi, and eggs.

First, beat two eggs and add a dash of calamansi and a bowl of bread crumbs. Mix them together, then add the cheese.

Once that's all mixed together, add chopped onions and drained tuna. Season the whole thing with pepper.

Shape the mixture into one inch-thick patties and fry them in oil.

The meal, which could serve up to three people, should only cost P150.

2. Kimchi Sardines with Garlic Fried Rice

To make this Korean-inspired breakfast dish, you will need cans of sardines, garlic, onions, soy sauce, salt, tomato sauce, pepper, kimchi, oyster sauce, and sugar.

First, fry chopped onions and garlic in oil. Add in some kimchi that could be bought from Korean stores and groceries.

Next, pour the sardines in the pan and add a little water for the sauce. Pour in some soy sauce and oyster sauce and season it with pepper, sault, and sugar.

Let the whole thing simmer for a bit, and then voila! Serve it with garlic fried rice and you're done.

This meal for three should only cost about P160.

3. Ginisang Corned Beef with Vegetables

To make this, you'll need canned corned beef, tomatoes, oil, salt, sayote, garlic, and cabbages.

Fry onions, garlic, and tomatoes in a pan of oil, then add the corned beef.

Drop in the sayote, then season it with salt and pepper.

Let it simmer until the meat is tender, then add the cabbage.

After another minute, it's ready to serve.

This meal could serve up to four people and should only cost P130. —JCB, GMA News
