Carmen’s Best now offers natural cheese products
From being home to delectable ice cream for years, Carmen’s Best now also offers natural cheese products!
In an online interview with GMA News Online, Carmen’s Best founder Paco Magsaysay said they offered three kinds: Italian Tuma, Caciotta, and Gorgonzola.
Magsaysay said an Italian helped them develop their natural cheese products.
“I came across an Italian national living in Manila, who was willing to teach me how to make cheese the way it was done in his native Sicily—for a price, of course!” he said.
“The best thing was he spoke English well and possessed admirable knowledge and skills in the art of making cheese the natural way.”
Compared to making ice cream, Magsaysay said natural cheese needed a different process.
“It’s never really the same, not to mention the bacteria,” he said. “It’s challenging as the quality of milk, humidity, rennet, temperature and proper aging are key to coming up with the proper kind.”
Customers are assured of quality as the cheese products are made from milk taken from the Magsaysay farm’s cows, which are well taken care of.
The Tuma takes five days to age, while the Caciotta takes 10 days and the Gorgonzola 30.
Interested buyers may join this Viber group to place an order. The Tuma sells for PHP190 per 100 grams; the Caciotta for PHP195, and the Gorgonzola for PHP220.
Mozzarella and Ricotta cheeses are also available.
Carmen’s Best ice cream, meanwhile, are available for purchase on its website. Among its unique flavors are I Love You S’mores!, He’s Not Worth It, Vietnamese Coffee, Hokey Pokey, and Cereal Milk. – RC, GMA News
