These local chocolate bars made with cacao from Malvar, Batangas are so delicious

Here's a very worthy addition to the growing list of delicious Philippine-made chocolate — and one you should consider giving as presents for the Holidays: the three-bar chocolate collection from local chocolate makers 1919 Chocolate and True Chocolate PH.

The two Filipino brands have collaborated for what they like to call "crave-worthy" chocolate bars and they're not lying.

The collaboration consists of three tree-to-bar chocolates that you'll keep thinking about long after you've tucked them aside.

The bars are a product of three months of collaboration between 1919 Chocolate and True Chocolate PH.

"Kay and Karl Santos [of 1919 Chocolate] attended one of my online chocolate tasting events and sent me some of their chocolate bars," Treena Tecson of True Chocolate tells GMA News Online on email.

"I was impressed with the look of the brand and the taste of their chocolate bars, especially since the cacao beans used are sourced from their farm in Malvar, Batangas," continued Treena, who is a holder of Level 1 & 2 Chocolate Tasting Certification from the International Institute of Chocolate and Cacao Training.

"Some of the Criollo cacao trees are 100 years old!" she exclaimed.

The resulting three-bar collaboration comes in a unique and attractive design, which the collaborators say "represents a modern take on the classic chocolate bar shape and look."

How to eat them you might ask? Turn the bar over to the back side and break it into sections. "Typical serving size would be around 4 pieces per bar," they say.

Perhaps more important than the unique design is the thickness of the bars. Where most premium chocolate bars are so thick, they require effort and strength just to be able to break a piece, the chocolate bars of this collaboration is just right. "It's not too thick or too thin. It's just right thickness for a good and even melt-on-the-tongue chocolate," he say.

The bars can be purchased individually but the set of three (P795) makes for a most thoughtful and delicious gift. You can buy them here. — LA, GMA News
