Pokwang’s and other Kapuso stars’ secret to a delicious Christmas
The Filipino Christmas season always revolves around food and family to warm homes and hearts. Let’s take a look at the secret ingredient Kapuso stars use in their own recipes for meaningful Christmas celebrations.
Making memories with spaghetti
Actress and comedian Pokwang recalls that her family didn’t have much when she was growing up. Yet during special occasions like Christmas, she and her siblings knew that their parents would make an effort to celebrate, and it was her father’s spaghetti that they would look forward to having right after Simbang Gabi.

Now that Pokwang has her own family and her own children, she still prepares her father’s spaghetti recipe to make potluck parties and Christmas celebrations as delicious as those she had in her childhood. Passing on this Christmas tradition to her kids is not just a spaghetti recipe being handed down, it is passing on the meaning of being with family and savoring how her parents made those days special. Pokwang, in turn, brings the same kind of special to celebrations with her children.

You can start your own special tradition and create this Nutri-sarap Christmas Spaghetti for your family, too. All you have to do is follow this recipe and make sure to use Pokwang’s secret ingredient.

Close-knit families and caldereta
Celebrating Christmas is always a good time for your annual family reunions. When seeing relatives and bonding over a family meal, there is usually a well-loved dish that takes center stage. For Camille and VJ, it is mommy Alma’s Caldereta.

Camille Prats and VJ Yambao have been missing their family reunions lately because of staying home and avoiding gatherings, especially VJ who is used to his big family. For him, and his 21 cousins, Christmas celebrations when they were children were about getting together in the family compound, playing all night as they waited for Noche Buena and receiving aguinaldo from their grandparents.

The Prats family gatherings aren’t quite as big but they would make sure that the whole family is always present and ready to feast on mommy Alma’s Caldereta, the star of their Noche Buena table. Even VJ will agree that this is worth waiting until Christmas for.

This time, without the big gatherings of their close-knit families, Camille and VJ will take to their own kitchen to prepare the dish that brings them the perfect Christmas feels.
Pancit to perk up your Christmas spread
For Kapuso mom Rochelle Pangilinan, Christmas is all about experiences. She remembers getting dressed up to go out to see her ninongs and ninangs, caroling, walking in the streets to enjoy the banderitas, games, and marching bands, and of course, having delicious food.

Now that she has her own daughter, Rochelle wants Shiloh to experience the richness of her Christmas seasons past, but this year, it looks like the holidays will be spent indoors and at home. For Rochelle, if she can’t take Shiloh out to be part these colorful experiences, she would find a way to take these experiences to Shiloh.

Rochelle aims to bring Christmas joy through games, gift giving, and of course cooking a dish that is a staple of every celebration – Pancit Canton. Friendly on the budget, but colorful and embodying that celebratory feel, it just gives that extra oomph to your Christmas spread.

There are secret ingredients in each of the recipes Pokwang, Camille, and Rochelle plan to make for their Christmas celebrations. These are love and attention and all the good things that makes celebrating Christmas with the family warm and satisfying. It is also the passing on of memories to make new ones, passing from kitchens to tables and into hearts.
