Burger King expands plant-based offerings with new meatless chicken sandwich
Following the success of its Plant-Based Whopper, Burger King is expanding its meatless menu with a new sandwich.
Behold, the Plant-Based X-tra Long Chicken! It's the same original chicken sammie we know and love, except it's made with a crispy 6-inch plant-based patty developed by The Vegetarian Butcher, a renowned vegetarian company established by a 9th generation farmer at The Hague in Netherlands.
The new plant-based chicken sandwich also features plant-based mayonnaise, topped with fresh lettuce for more green goodness, and is hugged by soft sesame seed buns.
The new addition is an effort of Burger King to bring plant-based chicken closer to meat lovers, flexitarians, vegetarians, and general healthy eaters alike.
According to Joey Dominguez, the general manager of Burger King Philippines, the new plant-based chicken burger is the fast-food chain's "response to the demand from guests who are asking a variety of plan-based options without compromising on taste."
"We are confident Filipinos will love our follow-up to the plant-base whopper," he added.
The plant-based X-tra Long Chicken sandwich retails for P150 (ala carta) and P195 (as a set meal). it's available in all Burger King stores in Luzon and will soon make its way to Burger King nationwide. — LA, GMA News
