In San Francisco, a Fil-Am chocolatier offers rainbow treats made with single-origin heirloom cacao
Pride Month may be over, but Kokak Chocolates in San Francisco still champions itself with rainbow-themed confectioneries!
Founded by Filipino-American Carol Garcia, Kokak Chocolates features Asian-inspired products from heirloom cacao made lusciously eye-catching with edible ink.
In a video posted by ‘Make Your Day’ on YouTube, Carol, a proud LGBTQIA+ member, shares how she found her way into making the hearts of the gay community flutter with her chocolate creations.
According to "Make Your Day," the Kokak Chocolates founder migrated to the US to find her “personal freedom,” but she also came out to find her creative expression.
To make her creations stand out, Carol uses edible ink to create vibrant and beautiful designs on her single-origin heirloom chocolates, which turned out to be a hit!
Filipinos as well as San Francisco’s famed gay community have been flocking to her store consistently to get their hands on Kokak treats.
“Talagang papasok sila, and magtatanong sila, ‘what would it take to keep your lights on? We’ll do it’,” Carol shared.
Aside from the personal freedom that she gets from migrating to the US, Carol shares that expressing who she really is, even in her business and creations, is what makes her truly happy. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA News
