Chef Claude Tayag has a ready-to-heat line of Filipino meals for when you need something easy and delicious
Chef Claude Tayag has long been an icon for Filipino food.
He was the one who first introduced Anthony Bourdain to the sisig and lechon and his award-winning restaurant in Pampanga, Bale Dutung, has always been a must-visit.
So we shouldn't have been so surprised at how delicious his line of ready-to-heat Filipino dishes for 7-11 are.
Batchoy, Palabok, Sinampalukang Manok, and Bicol Express comprise 7-11's Chef's Creations collaboration with Tayag.
They are affordable — starts at P95! — but they taste expensive and special, as though they were created for a fiesta, instead.
The Batchoy and Palabok, both retailing for 95, are great for lighter fare — for merienda perhaps, or a quick al-desko lunch.
The Batchoy has pork and innards swimming in the noodle soup, while the Palabok is generous with the shrimp, chicharon, tinapa flakes, and even a hard-boiled egg.
The Sinampalukang Manok (P115) meanwhile and Bicol Express (P95) are bombastic ulam options for a heftier lunch with family or friends.
The Manok is Bataan's take on chicken sinigang, made with sampalok leaves and pulp, while Bicol Express contains chilis, coconut milk, and shrimp paste that truly packs a punch.
All make for a truly delicious Filipino meal, but if we were to choose one, the Sinampalukang Manok takes the cake for us.
