US VP Harris tells VP Sara: ‘I love lumpia’

United States Vice President Kamala Harris bared her preference for Filipino fried spring rolls or lumpia when she paid a courtesy call on Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday.

The two female leaders shared a light moment during their bilateral meeting at the Aguado House near Malacañang, when Duterte recommended Harris to try out Filipino food like kare-kare, adobo, and lechon.

Harris replied, saying she already tried eating lumpia, as she has many employees who are Filipino-Americans.

“I love lumpia too,” the US Vice President said.

“I have lots — All the time, in ever —  I have many people working in my office who are Filipino-American, so whenever we have holiday parties, there is a big table of [lumpia],” she added.

Duterte told Harris that both fresh and fried lumpia are good, to which the latter replied, saying she likes the fried ones with lemon dipping sauce.

Among those present in the meeting were Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez, and US Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson.

After Harris met with Duterte, she went straight to the Malacañang Palace for her courtesy call on President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
