Lechon, Liempo, Sisig, other Filipino dishes make it to TasteAtlas' 50 Best Pork Dishes

TasteAtlas has published its 50 Best Pork Dishes for the month of May, and six dishes from the Philippines made it to the list.

Lechon, the slow-roasted suckling pig stuffed with lemongrass, tamarind, garlic, onions, and chives, which famously earned the admiration of the late great Anthony Bourdain, landed at the 29th spot, receiving the highest rating among the five Pinoy dishes on the list.

Lechon Kawali came in at the 33rd spot, Bicol Express at 34th, Inihaw na Liempo at the 40th spot. Adobong Baboy landed in the 42nd spot, and rounding everything up is Sisig at 46th.

Meanwhile, TasteAtlas hailed Lechona from Colombia as the top pork dish. It's a traditional Colombian dish with a whole roasted pig stuffed with onions, peas, rice, fresh herbs, and various spices.

Puerto Rico's Pernil came in on the 2nd spot, while three of Mexico's famous pork dishes — Gringas, Tacos al Pastor, and Conchinita Pibil — complete the top five.

TasteAtlas is an online publication that explores the world through local food. It consistently publishes lists, in which the Philippines often figures.

In March, TasteAtlas published its Top 100 list of the best Southeast Asian street foods, which included Philippines' Bibingka, Kwek-kwek, and Taho, among others.

Last year, Sinigang also entered TasteAtlas' list of Top 100 Best Dishes in the World, ranking 97th.

Meanwhile, Leche Flan ranked third in TasteAtlas' Best Custards in the World in last year's list.
