From chili burger to Chinese milk tea: New dishes, drinks, and restaurants to try this August
We're more than halfway through 2025, but Metro Manila's food and beverage scene shows no signs of slowing down, with fresh openings and exciting new menus.
This August, indulge in fiery hot chicken burgers, flavorful ramen bowls, and refreshing milk tea from both new and beloved spots across the metro.
1. Crispy Chili Menu from Shake Shack Philippines
Shake Shack Philippines has teamed up with Hong Kong's A Spark of Madness for a limited-edition Crispy Chili Menu, giving your Shack favorites a fiery twist.
Highlights include the Crispy Chili Chicken sandwich with scallion mayo and pickled cucumbers, Crispy Chili Chicken Bites with a side of mayo for dipping, Crispy Chili Cheese Fries topped with cheese sauce and chili oil, and the Crispy Chili Cheesedog, a beef hotdog loaded with cheese sauce and a chili oil.
The Crispy Chili Menu is available until October 18,
Shake Shack is located at Central Square, Greenbelt 5, and SM Megamall.
2. Two new bold ramen bowls from Ooma
The home-grown Japanese joint is introducing two bold bowls beginning this August. The Shoyu Chashu is a mix of Tonkotsu-Paitan broth with shoyu tare, kikurage mushrooms, burnt leek oil, aonori, egg noodles, aji tamago, leeks, and torched chashu,
If you're looking for something lighter, the Shio Tori has Tonkotsu-Paitan broth infused with garlic and sesame, topped with fried leeks, grilled baby corn, black garlic paste, and a crispy fried miso chicken thigh.
Ooma is located at Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 3, and Powerplant Mall.
3. Milktea from Chagee Philippines
For milk tea enthusiasts, the wait is almost over as Chagee is set to open its first Philippine branch on August 29.
The international tea house hails from Yunnan, China, is popular for its bestselling BO:YA Jasmine Green Milk Tea, which is about to become accessible to Filipinos in Metro Manila.
Chagee Philippines will be located at SM North EDSA.
4. Thai food from Sabai
Sabai is a new modern Thai restaurant in Bonifacio Global City. It is helmed by Southern Thailand native Assavadathkamjorn Puwadol, whose portfolio includes experience in Michelin-starred establishments such as Sühring in Bangkok.
Not to be missed on the Sabai menu are the Pla Kung Yang, flame-grilled tiger prawns with lemongrass and chili, and Kang Panang Nuea Nong Lai, a rich panang curry with tender beef shank.
Sabai is located at G/F Shangri-La at The Fort.
5. Tea lattes from ChaYi
ChaYi, the tea concept inspired by China's centuries-old tea tradition, expands in Metro Manila with a new branch in Taguig City.
At ChaYi, it's not just any other milk tea. It's tea lattes you must order. Allow us to recommend the Peach Harmony, Spring Jasmine, Autumn Osmanthus, and Yunnan Pu'er.
ChaYi is located at the Venice Grand Canal and Lucky Chinatown.
