Quezon City holds first-ever Mooncake Festival

Quezon City just held its first-ever Mooncake Festival!

On social media, the Quezon City Local Government Unit shared some snaps from the inaugural festival held on Sunday at the city's Chinatown District in Banawe.

The festival, organized by the Quezon City Tourism Department, featured a 39-inch giant mooncake weighing 100 kilograms, a mooncake dice game, a vibrant lantern parade, and live performances by Richard Yap and McCoy De Leon.

Aside from the fun activities, the event also featured a Mooncake Bazaar at a mall in Banawe, offering mooncakes, hopia, and other Filipino-Chinese cuisine and products. Interactive attractions, including a wishing tree, a Chinese calligraphy station, and a photo and 360° booth, were also set up at the venue.

According to the LGU, Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a centuries-old tradition celebrated by Chinese communities worldwide. It is a time dedicated to celebrating family unity, expressing gratitude, and promoting peace and prosperity.
