Milk tea, also known as bubble tea or boba tea, has long been a beverage of choice for those looking for a quick refreshment, especially during the peak of Philippine summer. 

Invented in the 1980s, it originated in Taichung, Taiwan, with Chun Shui Tang widely recognized as the oldest milk tea shop in the city.

In the Philippines, milk tea quickly became more than just a trend. According to Asian Studies expert Gilbert Que in a previous “Pinas Sarap” episode, its appeal lies in its sweetness, as Filipinos generally have a sweet tooth.

"Tuwang-tuwa tayo dito kasi mahilig nga tayo sa matamis. Mainit sa Philippines so the milk tea is almost always served cold," he said.

In celebration of International Boba Day, here are five classic milk tea drinks you can try in Metro Manila:

1. KOI Thé: Golden Bubble Milk Tea
