A total of 1,000 students in Northern Cebu received dental services and anti-lice treatment from the GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Linis Lusog Kapusong Kabataan project.

According to "24 Oras" Friday, the project was organized by the foundation with the Philippine Association of Proviate School Dentists Inc. (PAPSDI) during the inauguration of Kapuso classrooms in three schools in Cebu.

Among the beneficiaries of the project were Sandra Bedro's 6-year-old daughter, who has been struggling with lice, as well as Joan Herrera's twins, who have been suffering from toothache.

Per dermatologist Dr. Grace Beltran, anti-lice shampoo is necessary to completely get rid of head lice.

"If you leave even just one lice, it will come back. As much as possible, you should wash it everyday. The heat on the scalp doesn't last long and lice thrives in moist, warm environments," she said in Filipino.

The initiative taught students how to brush their teeth and wash their hands properly, as well as how to shampoo their hair to get rid of lice. Students also underwent free tooth extraction and received fluoride varnish and hygiene kits.

"We also have preventive care, such as fluoride varnish. It's protection for the teeth to prevent decay, especially if they seldom go to the dentist," said PAPSDI president Dr. Mary Anne Celebre in Filipino.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, Shopee, and Palawan Pay. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
