Proper sleep, stay happy: Alex Eala shares secrets to glowing skin

HONG KONG — While Filipino tennis star Alexandra Eala continues to impress on the court, eagle-eyed netizens have also taken notice of her striking looks and graceful demeanor, which they say could rival those of a beauty queen.

Eala’s face turned red at the compliment, and she shyly laughed before responding to a question about her beauty secrets.

“I have my parents to thank for my looks. But I'm super, super flattered that the fans said that,” Eala responded in a mix of English and Filipino.

Her parents, Rosemarie (Rizza) and Michael (Mike), were seen watching her semifinal match against Maria Sakkari, whom Eala defeated in a grueling three-set encounter.

They were seated beside their daughter's coach, Joan Bosch of the Rafa Nadal Academy, where Eala has trained for several years.

Answering fans’ questions about her glowing skin, the 21-year-old said she makes sure to get enough sleep, prioritize her health, and stay happy.

“A lot of sleep and prioritize health. Then, I feel like when you are happy, you naturally glow, so, I am happy right now,” she said.

Eala added that she does not follow a strict diet but remains mindful of what she eats, while allowing herself to enjoy sweet treats occasionally.

“If you compare my diet to a regular person's diet, of course, it's really much healthier. But it doesn't mean I don't love sweets. I feed my body well. Body and mind,” Eala said in a press conference shortly after her semifinal victory against Sakkari.

Eala has advanced to the final of the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open, where she will face Claire Liu on Sunday afternoon, November 8, at Centre Court of the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium. —VBL, GMA News
