How to protect yourself from haze

Indonesia's haze has reached the Philippines.

According to the Indonesia-based Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) last week, the haze—thick smoke and dust caused by slash-and-burn agricultural practices—affecting the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand may last until next year.

Thick haze has been reported in General Santos City, with health authorities checking if two asthma deaths there are linked to the haze.

In light of the haze incidents in the country, the Department of Health has issued an advisory to Filipinos on how to take precautions against its ill effects.
