WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN

Olivia Jordan applauds Miss Canada’s body positive message

Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan is not competing in the 65th Miss Universe pageant, but she could be a front-runner for an honorary Miss Congeniality award.

Jordan has never skipped a beat in supporting her successor Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber, as well as her former roommate Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach—living her philosophy of women helping other women.

She can also be spotted in the typically toxic comments section leaving messages of support.

Jordan cheered for fellow beauty candidate Miss Canada Siera Bearchell, who last week wrote about her journey to bring self-love to Miss Universe despite the bashing about her weight.

"This is what it means to stand on that stage. This is truly aspirational," Jordan wrote. "Thank you for standing strong for women all over the world! It's about loving yourself first! Keep preaching beauty!!"

In response, Bearchell thanked Jordan profusely.

"You can be a feminist and be in pageants"

Jordan also addressed the problematic side of beauty pageants on her personal Instagram account, speaking like a true queen on the subject of feminism.

She wrote, "You can empower women while wearing a bikini. You can be a feminist and be in pageants. It doesn't matter what your platform is or what you wear, it just matters that you use your voice for the greater good."

"We must rise up, support each other, strip away our [judgement] of each other and fight for equality," she continued. "It's time to step up into our power women. And I want to empower women all over the world!"

The last line echoes Jordan's answer in the second Question and Answer segment in the 64th Miss Universe pageant, when she, Wurtzbach, and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez were asked: "Why should you be the next Miss Universe?

Jordan had elaborated on her desire to inspire people to have faith in themselves and ended her answer with a feminist note, "I want to work to bring equality towards men and women. It is time to step up into power, women. And I want to empower women all over the world!"

Jordan arrived in the country with Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez on Monday. The pair will be participating in the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
