Marathon, Zumba session held to raise HIV awareness

A marathon and a Zumba session was held in Pasay City on Sunday to raise awareness on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

The National Union of Career Executive Service Officers, in partnership with the Department of Health and the Pedal for HIV group, organized the HIV-awareness events.

The Philippines remained one of the countries with a rapidly increasing number of HIV cases.

The Philippines is said to have 30 new individuals diagnosed with HIV every day, with a total of 45,000 HIV positive cases in the country.

"Mas maging informed 'yung mga tao, maging sensitive sila na itong topic na 'to, hindi basta basta ginagawang biro lang kasi maraming tao na living with HIV na nakakaranas ng depression," said Pedal for HIV founder Faustine Angeles. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM/NB, GMA News
