He was born a female and naturally transformed into a male

On "Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho" Sunday, we learned about Maher, a 24-year-old dude from Mindanao who was born a female but transformed into a male.

We know right?

He never got his period, and he never developed breasts. Instead his voice turned deeper and he grew facial hair.

According to experts, Maher is a male pseudohermaphrodite, a person with female genitals but is really male.

“Hindi ako dumaan sa kahit anong operasyon or uminom ng kahit anong gamot,” Maher said. “Hindi ko naranasan yung dadatnan kada buwan, yung pati yung lalaki yung dibdib, wala rin yun.”

He underwent a medical test, where an ultrasound revealed he did not have any ovaries nor a uterus.

A chromosomal analysis revealed Maher had XY chromosomes, confirming he really is a male and not a female.

Because he doesn’t have the external male genital, he is considered a male pseudohermaphrodite, explains endocrinologist Dr. Suzette Alegarvez.

“Pag sinabi mo kasing hermaphrodite, ang panlabas na anyo ay iba sa internal sex organs. So yung external  genital ay kakaiba sa internal pati sa chromosomes. Kaya siya considered pseudohermaphrodite,” continues Dr. Alegarvez.
