The first Filipina to climb the seven summits: 'In everything we do, kailangan magtiwala sa sarili'
"In everything we do, kailangan lang natin magtiwala sa sarili natin."
This is what Lieutenant Junior Grade Carina Dayondon, the first Filipina to climb the seven summits, said upon her return from successfully climbing the world's tallest mountains mission.
In 24 Oras report, Darlene Cay said Dayondon is inspired by her fellow Filipinas.
"Siyempre sobrang nagpapasalamat ako at tuwang tuwa po ako dahil sa tulong at dasal ninyo, naging matagumpay po 'yong pagtatapos natin sa seven summits na journey ng isang Filipina."
Of the seven, Dayondon climbed Antartica's Mt. Vinson Massif last.
"Maski sobrang lamig, sobrang nakakapagod, talagang nawala 'yun lahat dahil gusto nating makasummit sa Mount Vinsson," said Dayondon, who described the mountain as the most secluded of the lot.
Dayondon was emotional when her family and colleagues from the Philippine Coast Guard welcomed her back home.
Dayondon's brother couldn't help but express how proud she is of her sister.
"Kung gaano kataas 'yong mga peak na inakyat niya, ganoon din kami kaproud sa kanya."
The Philippine Coast Guard is planning to commemorate Dayondon for her success. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
