Don't panic: pain on lower abdomen during ovulation is normal
Although not everyone experiences it, pain on the side of the lower abdomen during ovulation, it's actually normal clarifies Dr. Raul Quillamor in an episode of Pinoy MD last Saturday.
According to Quillamor, this pain during ovulation is called Mittelschmerz and occurs when the woman is already fertile.
He said, "Kapag nago-ovulate ang isang babae, may follicate kung saan nandoon yung egg. Sa loob puno ng liquid kasi 'yon."
He added, "Kapag nag-rupture 'yung follicle na 'yun, ibig sabihin fertile na ang babae."

However, Quillamor warned that the pain should only happen within 24 hours. If the pain exceeds that limit, Quillamor highly suggested for women to go see a doctor to see if there are other reasons causing this pain.
