Why is prickly heat — aka 'bungang araw' — so prevalent in the summer?
By KAELA MALIG, GMA News
Rashes that appear on the back may be a symptom of numerous diseases, but according to Dr. Jean Marquez, a dermatologist, it can just be prickly heat or more locally known as "bungang araw."
And in the summer, it becomes quite prevalent. Why?
In a Pinoy MD episode, Marquez said, "Na-tratrap 'yung sweat glands doon sa loob ng pores. So what happens is pumuputok 'yung sweat glands inside the skin tapos magco-cause ito ng irritation around the skin, and then magkakaroon ng butlig butlig."
Always leaning back or lying down on a leather or plastic surface can lead to these rashes.
"Nakabakat talaga kung saan ka nakasandal," Dr. Marquez continues.
As always, it's best to consult a dermatologist to get a proper diagnosis. — LA, GMA News
