FDA warns vs. fake anti-rabies vaccines for human use

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday warned the public against counterfeit versions of Rabipur PCEC rabies vaccine for human use that are circulating in the market as these may pose "potential danger or injury to consumers."

According to the FDA, the authentic product may be distinguished from the fake versions through carefully inspecting its packaging.

The box label of the original Rabipur PCEC rabies vaccine comes with a darker shade of gray and bold font format. Its QR code is printed with lighter ink.

The label of the sterile syringe and needle should also not bear the print “E-Mail:CS@bd.com."

The FDA said that the following batch numbers were counterfeited:
Batch no. 3503
Batch no. 3479
Authorities reminded the consumers, distributors, and retailers to purchase drug products only from the FDA-licensed establishments.

Further, the FDA also warned that selling or dispensing counterfeit drug products is punishable because it is a clear violation of the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 and Special Law on Counterfeit Drugs. —NB, GMA News
