At her press conference Monday, The youngest winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, offered words of advice and encouragement to young LGBT Filipinos.
“Keep doing what you’re doing. I see so many inspiring queens, inspiring people in general who are just so enthusiastic about drag, about the community, about life — and life is all about living it. So keep doing that and do it as unapologetically as you can,” she said.
Having the privilege of doing almost anything her heart desires, Aquaria recognizes that not everyone in the LGBTQ community has the same privileges as her.
For those who are still struggling to finding and living their truth as proud members of the LGBTQ community, she suggests taking ownership of their own identity and taking their time.
“There’s never a right or wrong time to come out, to feel comfortable in yourself. I think it’s important to remember that who you are today is not who you are tomorrow;life’s definitely a journey,” Aquaria began.
“I think even with my drag, yeah I won ‘Drag Race’ but that doesn’t mean that that’s when I’m gonna stop growing or when I’m gonna stop evolving into a better version of myself. So just knowing that you don’t have to be perfectly fine today, you don’t have to be perfectly fine tomorrow, and that there is a future. It’s really important, life is all about the journey. So take your time and breathe.” — LA, GMA News
