Is having your period for only 1-2 days normal? Doctors weigh in
Periods normally last for three to five days, but what if ladies get them for only a day or two?
In an episode of Pinoy MD, doctors Raul Quillamor and Jean Marquez discuss what counts as normal when it comes to periods.
Quillamor said that if your period has always lasted for only one or two days, then it's nothing to worry about.
"Hindi naman lahat kasi ay three to five days, merong lumalampas ng konti, meron namang wala pang three days. As long as you have your menstruation every month, that's still OK," he said.
He explained that hormonal levels fluctuate and that's normal.
"Kahit nga 'yung volume o 'yung quantity ng bleeding ay hindi rin pare-pareho every month," he said.
So what isn't counted as normal?
Quillamor said if the period becomes prolonged, extending past seven days, it's abnormal.
It's also worrying if the menstrual flow increases.
Marquez said that extreme pain and excessive bleeding is also something to be concerned about.
"Kapag sobra namang bleeding doon natin babantayan," she said. "Kapag extreme pain...dapat talaga magpatingin."
