Did his father’s fondness for dogs cause this baby to grow a ‘tail’?
Seven-month old Baby Ramram was born a happy child.
Just like the others, Ramram was happy, carefree and would laugh a lot. However, unlike the others, Ramram was born with a strange condition. He had a tail at the end of his back.
According to the "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" episode on Sunday, the tail was three inches long and if you stretch it, it can span more than 4 inches, almost as long as his mother's finger.
Marlyn would bring the tail up whenever Ramram would wear diapers so the tail wouldn't stick to her ass whenever he would defecate.
Marlyn said Ramram doesn't feel pain whenever the tail is touched.
Marlyn would even squeeze the tail everyday just to check if it had any effects on her son.
Despite the oddity, neighbors believed that Ramram's tail actually brought good luck and miracles to the people who touch it.
Despite the possibility of giving miracles, however, Marlyn still wanted Ramram's tail removed.
Marlyn blamed herself for Ramram's condition, often wondering what she did wrong during her pregnancy.
"Ano ba ang pagkakamali ko? Umiinom naman ako ng gamot noong buntis ako...Kaya parang sinisisi ko rin ang sarili ko noon kasi bat ganon yung itsura nong anak ko?" she said.
[What did I do wrong? I drank my medicine when I was pregnant...In a way, I blame myself because why did my baby look like that?]
Some speculate that the reason why Ramram has a tail was because Marlyn's husband loved to hold the tails of the dogs.
Analyn Bayani, Baby Ramram's grandmother, said, "'Pag magising na 'yung asawa niya, 'yung aso namin ang una niyang hinahawakan, 'yung buntot niya palagi niyang hinahawakan."
["Whenever her husband would wake up, he would always go to our dog first and touch the dog's tail."]
Neighbors themselves say that the tail looks like it belonged to a dog.

Marlyn admitted that it broke her heart every time she would hear comments like those, vowing that her child won't have to hear them and experience the hurt she felt.
"Gusto ko lumaki siya ng normal," Ramram's mother said. "Kaya gusto kong ipatanggal kasi ayokong maranasan niya 'yung...sa akin nga sobrang sakit na 'yung mga naririnig ko, ano pa kaya pag nagkaisip na siya tas marinig niya 'yung mga sinasabi ng ibang tao?"
["I just want him to grow up normal. That's why I want to have his tail removed because I don't want him to go through...It's already painful for me to hear what they say, what more if he's already old enough and he hears what other people will say about him.")
With the help of the Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho team, Ramram was finally brought to the doctor to be checked.
Pediatrician Sheryl Dell Reyes affirmed Marlyn that there was nothing wrong with Baby Ramram's weight and height. Luckily, there was no problem with his heart and his cardiac involvement was clear since cases like Baby Ramram's were usually linked with heart diseases.
Despite this, neurosurgeon Albert Zuniga said that Baby Ramram's situation was a very rare case.
In the entire world since the 1800's, only 40 cases of people with tails were reported.
However, more may have been unrecorded because of the social stigma surrounding it.
Ramram’s X-ray and MRI results showed that it was just purely a normal human tail, a simple excision operation would be done. And if they found any anomalies, they would have to correct it first.
The MRI further revealed that Ramram has Lipoma or an overgrowth of fat in the spinal cord.
The neurosurgeon clarified that the interest of Marlyn's husband in dogs' tails did not have any connection with Baby Ramram's tail.
Upon checking, Dr. Zuniga said that Ramram's tail could be removed since it didn't perform any function and the tail could even possibly grow longer as Ramram grew up.
To help out, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Abulug, Cagayan offered their aid and the hospital also said that they'll be offering the operation for free for Baby Ramram.
