Health officials provide ‘couples’ nests’ at Tagaytay evacuation center

Local health authorities in Tagaytay City have set aside five rooms at one of the evacuations centers to serve as "couple's nests" amid the continued threat of Taal Volcano.

According to Sandra Aguinaldo's report on "24 Oras", the evacuation center has also been provided a clinic, a breastfeeding room, and a playroom.

City health officer Dr. Liza Fe Capupus said intimacy was still a necessity for couples.

She said the rooms were part of a "holistic" approach in taking care of the residents displaced by the eruption of Taal Volcano.

"So kailangan po ng couple's nest kasi ito ay isa sa mga pangangailangan ng mga mag-asawa," Capupus said.

Inside each room is a mattress on the floor and two bottles of water. Couples may use the room for a maximum of two hours.

Couples, however, need to attend a family planning seminar before they could use one of the rooms.

"We have to make sure na sila ay nagpa-family planning so mayroon pong condom na nandoon po sa ilalagay doon sa each of the rooms," Capupus said.

Alert Level 4 is still remains over Taal Volcano, which means hazardous explosive eruption may possibly occur within hours or days.
