New Waze features show nearest drive thru, donation centers, COVID-19 labs

Waze has added new features on its app showing the nearest drive-thru restaurants, donation centers, and reference laboratories amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the navigation app, drivers can now locate the nearest store offering drive-thru and curbside pickups so that they can know “where they can safely get their essential items while avoiding as much contact as possible.”

Waze has also added donation centers on the map. All users need to do is to search “Donation Center Drop-off” in the search box and the available options will appear.

Apart from these centers, the app also included over 59 COVID-19 reference laboratories in the map should users need to find a way going to the nearest one.

The app also shared that as multiple areas have eased into a general community quarantine, a “drive only if necessary” reminder will appear on the app to remind users to stay safe.  – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
