Should you wear a mask while exercising? WHO says no

People should not wear face masks when exercising as masks may reduce the ability to breathe comfortably.

This is the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO), which has been sharing guidelines on how to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post, WHO added that the sweat you produce while exercising could soak the mask.

A mask can also make it difficult for the person to breathe and promote the growth of microorganisms.

According to WHO, the most important preventive measure during exercise is to maintain physical distance of at least one meter from others.

The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 27,238 cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, June 17, along with 1,108 deaths and 6,820 recoveries.

Several areas in the Philippines, including Metro Manila, remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) in the hope of arresting the spread of the virus.
