Taho vendor uses improvised stick to ensure social distancing with customers

A 52-year-old taho vendor is using a simple tool to ensure social distancing with his customers: a one-meter stick with a tray on one end.

According to Oscar Oida's report for "24 Oras," vendors are now allowed to sell their goods on the street with the easing of quarantine measures.

They still need to follow safety protocols, however, and this is exactly what Ruben Tolentino did when he returned to work.

Ruben, who has been selling taho in Tarlac City for 20 years, facilitates contactless transactions using his improvised stick.

Instead of handing the taho cup directly to his customers, he puts it on the tray and allows them to pick it up themselves. They also leave the payment on the same tray.

In addition, Ruben put up a sign to remind customers to practice social distancing when buying taho.

He also wears a face mask and a face shield and uses plastic gloves when handling the cup and the ladle. —MGP, GMA News
