Different kinds of personal air purifiers to make sure we're breathing clean and safe air

We all need to make sure that the air we breathe is clean and safe, especially during a pandemic such as COVID-19.

According to Dr. Gerald Belandres, an expert on general and occupational medicine, wearing an air purifier can help protect an individual from harmful pathogens to a certain degree.

"S'yempre, nauso 'yan sa mga infection, sa mga dust, sa mga fumes na hindi naman kaaya-ayang amuyin, so makakatulong talaga sa kanila," Belandres explained on GMA-7's "Unang Hirit."

"Pero tandaan natin na syempre ang mga air purifiers na to….wala pang study na nakakapatay siya ng COVID-19," he added.

Belandres also walked viewers through different kinds of air purifiers that have been on demand recently.

1. Personal air purifier

The cool thing about personal air purifiers is that you can take them anywhere.

The unit featured in the video, for example, has a sleek minimalist design and can be worn around the neck as it produces negative ions that help clean the air you breathe.

2. Wearable donut purifier

Personal air purifiers come in different shapes and sizes.

For example, a wearable model featured in the report comes in a cute color and donut shape, but it essentially performs the same task.

3. Seashell air purifier

Something for the kids!

A model featured in the report may be shaped like a seashell, but don't let it fool you. Belandres said it looks pleasing for children and actually quite sturdy.

4. Car air ionizer

On the go? There are air purifiers that you can just plug into the car.

These are great for people who still need to travel for work and go in and out of the car amid the pandemic.
