Solenn Heussaff opens up about mental health postpartum: 'I couldn't look at myself in the mirror'
Solenn Heussaff opened up about her mental health after she gave birth to her and Nico Bolzico's first child, baby Thylane.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the actress and artist posted a fierce pregnant photo of herself and said that while pregnancy is the best thing she's experienced, "there is a lot you go through people don't always talk about. Postpartum. AKA your mental health and state."
According to Solenn, she "couldn't look at myself in the mirror, didn't want people to come visit me, wanted to diet but couldn't because feeding my baby was a priority."
She admitted to being very conscious about her appearance, what with dark spots appearing on her tummy and the way her underarms looked.
There was also battling the feeling of uselessness "because no matter how much I ate my baby was crying from hunger ,because of my low milk supply and the list goes on."
"No one truly understands it unless they go through it," Solenn added.
Solenn knew that such feelings were normal, but she nevertheless hated herself for feeling that way because she felt like she was being selfish.
"Mental health is real, and it is important to talk to people about how you feel and to be ok with it. YOU are important," the actress said.
Solenn and Nico welcomed Thylane into the world back on January 1st.
