Beauty Gonzalez reveals husband's battle against COVID-19

Beauty Gonzalez on Easter Sunday revealed her husband, businessman and art curator Norman Criosologo, tested positive for COVID-19.

The actress took to Instagram to detail her family's struggle after Norman contracted the virus, saying her life had been put on hold in the last couple of weeks.

"Everything on my mind and in my heart suddenly changed," Beauty wrote in the caption accompanying a black and white family photo.

According to Beauty, when Norman was rushed to the hospital, the "world problem suddenly hit home hard and fast and I wasn’t prepared."

As her husband battled COVID-19, "alone in a hospital ward halfway across town struggling for space and breath with dozens of other patients," she too found herself "alone at home with Olivia totally in the dark as to what was happening at the hospital."

"He couldn’t breath, pneumonia, anything and everything was a possibility with this unstudied disease. No cure, no sure treatment was the only sure thing," she continued.

As she recalled the statistics and death tolls and how "real they have suddenly become," Beauty felt like her world was ending. "I was going out of my mind, trying to call anyone who could offer me hope. I was trying to be brave for Olivia who somehow must have felt that nothing was right."

"The aloneness of this disease will kill the spirit even before it damages the body," the actress said.

According to Beauty, the hardest thing for her was sit and wait for her husband to come home. "Not being able to be there and comfort him was against every grain in my body. But it was something everyone of us in this situation has had to do."

"I spoke to God many times, I made promises to myself, I held my child often. I made sure that life from this day forward, no matter what happens will be filled with love and light, that all this suffering would not be for nothing," she added.

At night, Beauty returned to being "a girl crying alone in the middle of the night thinking things will never be the same again."

Soon, things turned for the better. Norman called her. He might have "sounded tired and sad, almost defeated" but he assured her: "Don’t worry baby, everything’s gonna be alright."

"And it was. He came home," Beauty said.

"Nothing will ever be the same again. Family is EVERYTHING," she added.

Beauty and Norman tied the knot in 2017. They have one child together named Olivia.

Beauty and Norman's COVID-19 story is just the latest in a string of stories among showbiz personalities.

Just recently, Gary V.'s wife Angeli tested positive for COVID-19 and has also announced that she has recovered. OPM icon Claire dela Fuente, however was not as lucky. According to her son Gigo de Guzman, the singer succumbed to stress brought about her COVID-19 diagnosis last week.

The Philippines on Sunday registered 11,028 new COVID-19 cases with 41,205 recoveries.

The total number of recoveries climbed to 646,100. Meanwhile, some 135,526 of the 795,051 total infections remain active. The death toll also rose to 13,425 with two new fatalities. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
