10-year-old girl suffers from overgrown breasts, shares her experience
Nearly a month after the 12-year-old girl suffering from excessive breast growth was featured on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” donations poured in. Meanwhile, another 10-year-old girl with the same condition came forward to share her experience.
According to the KMJS episode, Yumi, who was earlier diagnosed with juvenile gigantomastia, had overgrown breasts that weighed around 6 kg.
Apart from getting the right bras for proper chest support, Yumi also received words of encouragement from many people, which helped her regain her confidence.
“Tumaas po ‘yung confidence ko. Marami pong nagchi-cheer sa akin. Marami nang nakakaintindi sa kondisyon ko.”
[I was able to regain my confidence. A lot of people cheered me on, because they now understand what I’m going through.]
The Philippine General Hospital also reached out to KMJS and said that they would shoulder Yumi’s operation.
After an online consultation, Yumi is now scheduled to go to Manila for her laboratory tests. Once cleared, she’ll finally undergo the surgery she’s been wishing for.
Cases of juvenile gigantomastia are rare. With Yumi coming forward and telling her story, a 10-year-old girl from Laguna found the courage to also share her experience.
Like Yumi, Cluey experienced pains due to her overgrown breasts.
“Minsan po masakit po ’yung ulo ko, pati po likod ko. Natakot po ako kasi po biglang lumalaki. ’Pag matagal po akong nakaupo nang straight, nangangalay ako dahil po sa bigat ng dibdib,” she said.
[Sometimes my head and back hurt. I’m scared because it suddenly gets bigger. When I’m sitting straight for a long time, I get tired because of the weight of my chest.]
Her clothes no longer fit, so she has to borrow from her father or her sister.
As a kid, she used to be full of energy.
“Mabilis na po akong mapagod ngayon kasi po sa laki po ng dibdib ko, nabibigatan po ako. Malungkot po ako kasi hindi ko po sila nakakalaro,” Cluey shared.
[I get tired easily because of the size of my chest. It weighs me down. I’m sad because I can’t play with other children.]
According to an endocrinologist, Cluey was diagnosed with juvenile gigantomastia, similar to Yumi’s condition, which caused the aggressive growth of the flesh. She was advised to undergo an operation immediately.
However, her parents, who both works as security guards, said they couldn’t afford the surgery.
Because of this, the Philippine General Hospital also promised to also monitor Cluey’s case and provide her with the support that she needs. – Kaela Malig/RC/LA, GMA News
