Dianne Medina reveals she struggled with fatty liver, preeclampsia during pregnancy

It wasn't a secret the amount of bashing Dianne Medina went through as her body changed during pregnancy. She was bashed for gaining weight, and bashed some more for her postpartum body

But in a recent episode of "Mars Pa More," the celebrity mom revealed going through multiple health problems while pregnant last year.

In an episode of “Mars Pa More,” Dianne said she had fatty liver and acute pancreatitis after consuming too much unhealthy and high-fat food while pregnant with her son, Baby Joaquin.

“I gained so much weight when I was pregnant. I was eating unhealthy pala,” Dianne said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“So, preeclampsia — high blood 'yun, high blood pressure. Maybe because of all the unhealthy things I consumed.”

Dianne mistakenly thought that consuming a lot of food would result in more supply of breastmilk.

“After giving birth, I was eating pa rin so much. Kasi nga nung time na 'yun parang ang notion ko, 'pag marami akong kinain, mas dadami 'yung breast milk ko kasi nga I have to keep up dun sa demands ni Baby Joaquin,” she said.

[After giving birth, I was still eating a lot. At that time, I thought, eating more meant more breastmilk. I thought I had to keep up with Baby Joaquin's demands.]

“So, 'yun pala 'yung isang mali ko, na sobrang unhealthy din 'yung mga kinain ko. So, because of that I had fatty liver, I had acute pancreatitis. So, parang ang dami talagang sakit na lumabas.”

[But I learned that was I was mistaken. I was eating unhealthily too, so because of that, I had fatty liver and acute pancreatitis. There were so many illnesses that came up.]

Dianne went on a healthy diet and "detox cleansing" and now feels better.

“So, nag-pescatarian ako for three months because of the fatty liver. Para at least wala akong high-in fat na kinakain. No fried food for me, talagang fish lang. Wala akong pork, wala akong beef,” she said.

[To help with the fatty liver, I was pescatarian for three months so make sure I wasn't eating anything high in fat. I gave up fried food, too. I didn't eat pork, I didn't eat beef. It was all fish.]

“So, I've come across 'yung detox cleansing, 'yung juicing. So, maganda pala siya,” she added.

[I also came across detox cleansing — juicing and it turned out good for me.]
