Child with huge lump on cheek undergoes surgery with help of GMA Kapuso Foundation

A child with a huge lump of fat on her cheek has undergone surgery with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, Ryzza Llamelo was treated after she was diagnosed with lipoma, or abnormal development of fat, in 2017.

Ryzza was just eight months old when her lump became noticeable. It was not treated immediately and continued to grow because the medical facility was far from where she and her family lived.

With the help of the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, Ryzza turned from being a child who just stayed home most of the time to a young girl who could now smile and go out.

“Malaki na yung pinagbago niya ngayong natanggal yung bukol,” said Ryzza’s mom Rowena. “Dati, malungkot ta’s yung katawan niya matamlay. Ngayon, masaya na siya.”

[She changed a lot after the lump was removed. She used to be sad and weak. Now, she’s happy.]

Apart from Ryzza and Rowena, among those who were happy with the child’s recovery was Susan Llamo, the person who reached out to the foundation for help.

“Hindi man ako binigyan ng anak, gusto kong i-embrace yung ibang kabataan na nangangailangan ng tulong,” she said.

[I may not have been blessed with a child, but I want to embrace other kids who need help.]

Just like Ryzza, a two-year-old child with hemangioma is also set to undergo surgery as one of the foundation’s surgery beneficiaries this year.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations through bank deposits, PayMaya, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Zalora, Mega Mart, and Globe Rewards.
