Natural sunscreen? Here are foods that help protect your skin from sun damage, according to dermatologists

Wearing sunscreen is among the top tips against sun damage but did you know there are foods help protect your skin from the great El Sol?

In a TikTok video, dermatologists Dr. Carol Carpio, Dr. Diana Del Rio, Dr. Grace Reyes, Dr. Marie Suzzette Rosario, and Dr. Elisa Rae Coo enumerated food items people can eat for skin protection from the sun.

"The first step, slice some berries (antioxidants), the second step mix in the cocoa (flavonol), the third step chop up the walnuts (nicotinamide), add watermelon (lycopene), and sip a cup of tea (green tea = epigallocatechin gallate).

The doctors said these foods are the "salad for skin" that help "repair, protect, and heal from the heat."

The original music is by The Wiggles with lyrics written by Dr. Elisa Rae Coo and vocals by Kitbielle Pasagui and Mark Anthony Carpio.

The video, posted on the VMC-Dermatology TikTok account, earned for the group a runner-up win in the recently concluded Skintalk TikTok Challenge organized by the Philippine Dermatological Society presented virtually during the 44th PDS Annual Convention Fellowship Night on November 10, 2021. — LA, GMA News
