Which herbal plants can be used as tea to help with some illnesses? Kuya Kim answers
With the whole world still battling a pandemic, it pays to know how to manage illnesses as the weather gets colder at this time of the year.
On Monday's "24 Oras," Kuya Kim showed which herbal plants can help when they are consumed as tea. All you have to do is put these plants' leaves in hot water, wait for five minutes, and drink.
One example is Lagundi, which was proven by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to be effective against respiratory illnesses including cough and cold.
Tawa-tawa, meanwhile, is used to lower body temperature when you have a fever.
Like Lagundi, Sambong can help against coughs and colds. It can also be taken by those who suffer from kidney disease. Another one is Serpentina, which helps prevent cell damage.
Meanwhile, Poinsettia is also believed to help with some illnesses. Although it's not among the health department's list of herbal plants, herbalists say it also has healing properties.
Its petals are used for tea in other countries to combat colds, cough, and fever. Sometimes it is also used as a patch for parts of the body that are swelling.
The recommended time to drink tea of any kind is 15 minutes after breakfast.
