Melissa Gohing proudly shows off her linea nigra, embraces changing body

Melissa Gohing sure looks like she's enjoying pregnancy.

On Instagram Thursday, Rocco Nacino's better half shared a couple of photos showing her growing baby bump. Wearing a black bra top and matching yoga pants, Melissa stood in the golden light of sunset and directed everybody's attention to her changing body.

"Proud of my Linea Negra. Embracing the changes in my body" she began.

Urging fellow pregnant women to be proud of their linea nigra, Melissa said, "why hide what makes it special?"

Linea Nigra is the dark line that runs across the belly of an expectant woman, sometime in her second trimester middle. According to Healthline, it's just one of the many changes that occur in a woman's body during pregnancy.

"Your skin, like the rest of your body, goes through some changes during pregnancy. It stretches to accommodate your growing belly and breasts, and it may change color," Healthline said.

In fact, more than 90% experience a change in their skin during pregnancy, WebMD reports.

According to Healthline, the change in color is a result of the plenty hormones a woman's body produces during pregnancy. These hormones can stimulate the melanocyte cells in the skin, which then causes more melanin production.

Melanin is the pigment that tans and darkens your skin.

WebMD says there is no need to worry as the hyperpigmentation is harmless. After giving birth, hormones should settle back in, and the Linea Nigra will fade naturally.

Our bodies are amazing, indeed.
