20 beneficiaries get new dentures from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 20 beneficiaries received new dentures from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a "24 Oras" report, Wednesday, among the beneficiaries was Belina Anciano, who has always loved singing. However, she lacked confidence to do it due to missing teeth.

"Minsan pinapakanta ako ng mga kapatid ko. Nako, ayoko, wala akong ngipin," she said. "Pangit ng sounds. Pangit talaga. 'Yung hangin, lumalabas."

Anciano said her teeth have been broken ever since she was young. She does have dentures, but they are already damaged. She still uses it with the help of glue.

Philippine Prosthodontic Society Pres. Dr. Joann Fontanilla Joven, however, said this is not advisable.

"Anything na adhesive para ipagdikit sa ipin, hindi 'yan designed sa ating bibig so may mga toxic na chemicals po 'yan na pwedeng magkaro'n ng epekto sa ating kalusugan," she said.

Apart from dentures, the beneficiaries were also given lessons on how to properly clean them in line with Oral Health Month this February.

Anciano is now more than happy to show her smiles and sing her heart out whenever she can.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa GMA Kapuso Foundation. Ngayon, 'pag bibili sila, sasabihin ko hindi na ako si Nanay Bungal. May ngipin na ako. Nanay Ganda na," she said.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
